HANNAH JACKSON

Hello my name is Hannah and I am a qualified florist and flower grower based in South Yorkshire and from my small workshop & micro flower patch I am passionate about bringing you beautiful, ethical flowers with integrity.

Inspired by nature and the seasons, and my love of gardens, I offer gift bouquets, flowers for the home - both of which can be delivered within a 15 mile radius - seasonal wreaths and planters, eco-friendly sympathy tributes and, because it is important to me for each wedding to be unique and special, I take on a handful of weddings a year.

I am passionate about using seasonal, artisan flowers in all my work, often grown by me or sourced from a network of local and British growers, which supports independent local business and reduces the miles your flowers have to travel.

I strive to use eco-friendly techniques which means most my designs are biodegradable and I try and limit the use plastic and cellophane, opting for traditional techniques such as chicken wire, moss and gift wrapping in paper or hessian.

Suitable for florists, flower growers or anyone wanting to learn how to create beautifully natural, sustainable funeral tributes & add to their portfolio.

I am delighted to have secured two venues to be able to run a sustainable farewell flowers course on 3 separate dates in September & October 2022.  I especially chose these places as they have plenty of space and are a really beautiful setting to both work in and take photographs for your portfolio.

I wanted to run the course in September and before the end of October as locally grown flowers are more or less at an end by mid October.  Although it's possible to still create out of season tributes using British flowers, the choice is more limited and I have to source from more commercial Cornish growers and I particularly wanted to use locally grown flowers for this.  I do farewell flowers all year round but I think it's a different ball game creating one beautiful tribute to trying to source enough flowers for 8-10 people. I am working on this as I would love to teach how I create my farewell flowers in every season.

You will find the dates at the end but they include a Sunday & Monday at Loversall Barn and a Monday at The Tithe Barn Hooton Pagnell Hall.

I have designed the course so that it takes place over one day and you will be able to create two designs.  I feel the most important & useful aspects for you to practice and gain confidence in is to create a funeral casket top arrangement (can also be referred to as a coffin topper or casket spray) that is in two sections. I often get asked for this so that family members can share sections or a section can go on each parent's grave.  You will create the spray using locally grown flowers and also incorporate living flowering plants into it.  You can apply this principle back in your workshop to create sprays in different sizes and in as many sections as you wish using whatever plants, bulbs & flowers are in season, or chosen by your customers.

The second design will be a living wreath using flowering plants & succulents as well as flowers, twigs & foliage. These can be laid on the coffin - often chosen by family if they prefer something more simple - and/or the grave in memory.  The beauty of a living wreath is it thrives for a long time after the funeral and the individual plants can be replanted. See testimonials I received from a customer directly after the funeral and the following year.

Both your designs will be based on a biodegradable base, moss and use locally grown flowers & foliage.  I will be taking my beautiful willow coffin & there will be photographer to take photos for your portfolio and a visit from an End of Life Doula/Independent Funeral Director.
