I am committed to creating floral designs that are more natural and therefore kinder to the planet, are more meaningful & heartfelt & that connects me closer to nature.  Due to requests, I have found that my work has led me to offering courses where I can share & educate others how to do the same.

Currently funeral flower tributes come with a high carbon footprint, use lots of floral foam (Oasis) & tend to be created using imported flowers & single use plastics. There is another way to create beautiful farewell designs and I have designed my courses to give you the knowledge and confidence to create without foam and use more sustainable & biodegradable materials, British & locally grown flowers, foliage and planted material.

I run the courses at beautiful venues around South Yorkshire. They take place in one day as I understand it can be difficult to take time away from work & family commitments, so it's a very full packed day aimed at giving you the practical skillset you need & also as much information as you can absorb so you can feel confident to create these designs yourself. We will also look at what being sustainable means and discuss your objectives for the day, chat about how to select the most suitable flowers and I will share where I source sundries, how to deal with grieving families & funeral directors and how to properly cost your work.  Emphasis is very much on you developing &/or furthering your own unique style and creating the designs in a way that reflects your own interpretation of them.

You are encouraged to take photographs of your work throughout the day for your portfolio. .

A simple & delicious homemade lunch plus refreshments are provided throughout the day.

Subject to availablity we will be using locally grown & British grown flowers and foliage as I love working this way as it brings more joy to my work.  I encourage you to do the same in your own work practices but this is not a requirement of coming on the course. We each are on our own journey in our life and work & using solely British flowers is a step some people are not yet able to make or ever want to make & there is no judgement about your choices.  Many people wish to replace unsustainable mechanics particularly floral foam & single use plastics, & so my courses are perfect for giving you the skills to be able to take this mighty leap.

All courses are suitable for beginners but some experience or previous training is assumed, such as how to condition flowers.  1-2-1 sessions can be arranged prior to the course if required.

If you run a busy shop or are a studio based florist & struggle to find time out I can travel to you whether it's just yourself, several members of staff, or you can invite a fellow flower friend.  Please contact me for prices.
